Nautical Archaeology Course-Pete Walmsley
My daughter was sponsored by the museum where she works to attend a course in nautical archaeology. As I qualified as an ancient diving artefact she wondered if I would like to go along as her buddy? Daughters eh! So up to Capenwray to do the 3-day Intro and Part 1 combined course run by the Nautical Archaeology Society. Have you been to Capenwray? It’s like a mini Stoney Cove; decent facilities, excellent onion rings.

The English Red Sea they called it...... With a short drive from Northampton to Helston Premier Inn and a few beers later the team headed for bed ready for the infamous crossing from Penzance to St Marys in the morning. After an early start and the furore of loading the containers we boarded the Scillonian III for what was going to be an interesting crossing. We finally reached St Marys 3 hours later with a few of us having succumbed to the paper bag club, we were greeted with the view of a quintessential Cornish harbour of Hughtown, and made a way to our B&B 'The Bylet' where we were greeted by our hostess Lisa, who allotted our rooms and we unpacked and readied ourselves for a week of great diving.
